Festival

Experience “A Coloured Past” at the 26th International Festival “Days of Live Archaeology in Kernavė”, July 4–6, 2026.

Step into history at the 26th annual international festival – a unique open-air event that has brought together thousands of visitors from Lithuania and around the world every year since 1999. Here, history is not only told – it is experienced.

For three days, the Kernavė Archaeological Site will transform into a living world of the past. Battle re-enactments will come to life, ancient crafts will be revived, and visitors will take part in educational activities and creative workshops. Guests will discover the diversity of reconstructed historical costumes, immerse themselves in live music and folklore, and feel the vibrant, life-filled spirit of a colourful past. Everyday life of bygone centuries will unfold through the hands of artisans, medieval warriors, and masters of experimental archaeology.

The festival inspires visitors to explore Lithuanian and world history, cherish cultural heritage, and embrace a sustainable way of life – all within the breathtaking historical landscape of Kernavė, where past and present meet face to face.
